Balancing skills in and out of the kayak

Balancing and bracing this week for beginners and those wanting to brush up on their skills. This can be quite a fun session as it is all about building kayak confidence on the water, but might lead to some capsizes... Great chance to practice the rescues we have already covered too!

Meet at the carpark next to the skateboard ramp at Tahunanui at 6 pm for 6:30 pm start

You will require your own "sit-in" sea kayak and equipment, or make arrangements to hire from the club. Please bring suitable paddling clothing and warm clothes to change into after. Getting wet may be part of the activity... Please aim to be at the beach by six and ready to get on the water by six thirty.

Abel Tasman (Pot Luck) – 28 November

Type: Peer Group Paddle
Minimum Ability/Grade: Sea Kayak - Yellow
9 am for 9:30 on the water
  Jo Kay 0211169877 seakayaking@nelsonkayakers.co.nz
Well there was no clear winner for trip preference so I have let the weather forecast decide, taking into account this is a yellow grade trip.

Trip will be leaving from Kaiteriteri and follow the coast into Abel Tasman aiming for Akerston Bay but will stay flexible depending on how everyone is going.
Arrive at Kaiteriteri car park near the lagoon at 9 ready for a 9:30 start on the water (Briefing at 9:20)
We will paddle for about an hour, stop at Coquille Bay for morning tea then carry on for lunch at Akerston.

Can then decide whether to return the same way or go back around Adele Island.

Forecast:
The wind is forecast as NE 3 knots at 10 am and and picking up to 10 knots about 1 pm (Will be mostly a tail wind for our return journey).
Swell from 0.1m to 0.3m so should be manageable for everyone.
