Limited space. Trip limited to 6 Orange paddlers.
Possible day trip towards Ship Cove/Cannibal Cove. Endeavour Inlet. Pickersgill Island. Return to Waikawa on Monday.

Pool Training – 30 October

The Club hires the Riverside Pool each Wednesday night 7.30-8.45pm for Club members & non-members alike to train & practice kayak techniques indoors in warm water.

Instruction in rolling technique is usually available from Club mentors. See website under “TRAINING” for details as to costs and requirements.

Thursday Evening Sessions 31 Oct

Location/time: Tahunanui by the skateboard half-pipe. 6.00 for 6.30pm. Be prepared to get wet and dress accordingly as even accidental capsizes do happen in training. Bring your kayaking helmet if you have one, or a bike helmet if you don't.

Session theme: Moving water environment and it’s challenges

Specific focus: We’ll use the flow of the incoming tide in Blind Channel to practice boat control including ferry gliding across the current. Also, rescues in moving waters and the challenges with this.

Leave Friday, get back Sun. This weekend is a real treat. 4x4 over the mailing pass, overnight camping by the river, paddle the narrows & the lower gorge before taking out at the hope confluence.
