Ronga Reserve is an area that the Club supports under our conservation umbrella.
Join Forest and Bird at the secluded Ronga Reserve, Rai Valley, for our annual planting day. Under the shade of giant totara and matai, we’ll be restoring the site with a variety of broadleaf and podocarp species. This year we’ll be planting into clearings and extending our existing plantings to the original DOC restoration sites.
Ronga Reserve is a little-known reserve with giant podocarps and is known to host long-tailed bats. Over the last 10 years Forest & Bird branches, along with Nelson/Tasman Weedbusters, have been clearing weeds, planting trees, and will be undertaking some predator monitoring to inform future control. Regular working bees help keep our planting in top-top condition.

Meet at 10am Ronga Reserve or 0945 Brick Oven Rai Township. Bring boots, gloves, drink. BBQ lunch provided but bring plates, utensils and a salad etc.
For ride sharing contact Liz 035485026.
